My name is India, I am the Clinical Director of The Haven Center, which I opened in 2019. I am licensed in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist from Cleveland, Ohio and a proud 4th generation HBCU graduate. I earned my Bachelor's in Sociology from Hampton University, and a Master's degree in Couples & Family Therapy from The University of Maryland. I have been living in Maryland for 15 years. I love being a therapist, and I also love my roles as wife and mother of two.
I use an educational approach based in Gottman and Emotionally Focused Therapy with my clients to explore how they show up in their relationships and why. My job is not to take sides but to enrich your communication and problem solving within the relationship. I often see individuals to work on concerns related to their sexuality or relationships.
Beyond therapy, I am a Board-Approved Supervisor through the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, training the next generation of clinicians. I am also a Certified Sexologist, credentialed by the American Board of Sexology, specializing in helping individuals and couples navigate issues related to intimacy, desire, and sexual identity.
My career spans diverse and intensive clinical settings, from working in inpatient psychiatric care with individuals suffering from severe eating disorders to treating combat veterans and military families coping with PTSD and military sexual trauma. This breadth of experience has honed my ability to work with high-stakes cases requiring a sophisticated and strategic therapeutic approach.
Living in the DMV area, many clients have top secret security clearances, or work high profile jobs, and need a high level of discretion for their treatment. The Haven Center is a place where every client can expect for their privacy to be prioritized.
